In the last few moments before my mother passed away, I remember time slowing down. The smallest movement was visible. The quietist sound was heard. The softest breath was felt. We watch as a family a person leave their body and transition, as our lives transitioned.

As a 2nd generation British-Bengali I am still fascinated by my parents decision to emigrate to another country, and here my Father eloquently reads a poem about his feelings about his home country after 30 years. This is the first time we have collaborated creatively, and it has been amazing to do so.

With the rise of the Right in politics, and growing sense of a broken society, I feel we live in a time when people are offered things that appeal to their fears and are promised a future that will never come.

I have envisage a piece that brought together the sensibilities of two of my favourite artists/composers, namely the late Hungarian composer György Ligeti and UK dubstep producer Benga. This is my attempt of what this would sound like…

Becoming a father has been one of the most amazing experiences I have ever had. I used to hold my baby daughter with one hand, and play a riff on the piano with the other hand. This riff expanded into an entire piece for a chamber orchestra.
